Portfolio city: navigation as interface

Turning a personal portfolio into a legible journey through product thinking, experience, projects and writing.

  • Mapping
  • Navigation
  • Product strategy

The opportunity

Most portfolios are organised like filing cabinets. That structure is familiar, but it says very little about how the person behind the work thinks. This site reframes a portfolio as a navigable system: a route, a set of districts and a sequence of useful decisions.

Product principles

  • Legibility before spectacle. The city creates interest, while real HTML links and a duplicate mobile route keep every destination easy to reach.
  • Motion with meaning. Animation explains the relationship between sections instead of decorating the page.
  • Progressive depth. The homepage gives a concise overview; projects and writing can open into richer internal pages or continue to trusted external sources.

What was built

The experience combines an original isometric city illustration, a scalable SVG route and semantic navigation cards. Content lives in typed collections, so internal stories and external work can share one consistent card system without generating dead-end pages.

Outcome

The result is a portfolio that demonstrates mapping and navigation thinking before a visitor reads a case study: a distinctive first impression, a clear information architecture and a fast static delivery model.
